why cant i be asserive

there are many reasons that could be preventing you from being able to act in an assertive manner , however the most common reasons are social approval and perfectionism . social approval is putting a goal of being approved and loved by people around you. when going after social approval you may be setting the priority of being approved so high so that it overrides your own rights . perfectionism is thinking that every one should love you , or that you must be perfect and nice all of the time, and so this makes it so hard for you to say no to someone.
