Life can be really tough

Since the inception of 2knowmyself in 2006 the site never covered life problems in any unrealistic way. 2knowmyself is a place where realistic people find a way to fight back and achieve their dreams.

Life can be really tough. That's a fact that only delusional people can deny. No matter how smart, tough or creative you are life can knock you down and smash you into little pieces.

Being positive is a great virtue but during tough times you need be very realistic in order to be able to recover fast and stand up again on your feet.

Saying that i remembered Stallone's speech to his son when he said "The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place... and I don´t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it. You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward."

In my opinion this is a very powerful timeless advice. This advice tells you about the attitude you need in order to stand up again but it doesn't really mention what exactly you should do next and this is what this article is all about.

How to get back on your feet again

The first thing that happens to us after we get hit is that we become backward thinkers. We start getting attached to what we had and we start to look for something to blame in order to ease our pain but sadly this way of thinking will only keep you stuck where you are.

In order to get back on your feet again you need to understand that what's behind you is past and that you must work on a new plan that targets the future. And this leads us to the second important step of recovery which is writing a future plan.

Some people confuse writing a plan with goal setting but the two are totally different. While goal setting can be an intuitive non-emotional process writing a plan is a process where you create hope and give your subconscious mind new promises about possible change. Thus writing down goals is not by any means a step that would bring you back on your feet but it's the restoration of hope to your lie that can does that. What you should do next

If you did the previous steps you are half way through recovery and in order to recover fully you need to do the two remaining steps. The third step is all about understanding how you will be feeling in the next phase of your life.

Because you were just knocked down be 100% sure that your subconscious mind will still have doubts about you and about your plan. Those doubts will appear in the form of lack of motivation to carry out the new plan.

Once you become aware of this fact you will easily be able to do step four which is moving forward until this trust is established again. In the Ultimate guide to becoming confident i said that your subconscious mind will never trust you again before it sees some results.

This leads us to the chicken and egg problem. How can you get motivated when the subconscious mind can't really trust you? And how can you bring results when you are not motivated?

The answer is very simple. Keep moving forward even when you don't have any motivation. Eventually your persistence and consistency will lead to results and those results will allow your subconscious mind to trust you thus bringing you all the motivation you need.

Wait for motivation and you are doomed. Do those four steps and you will recover from any setback and stand again on your feet.
