Why self talk is important and effective

During many times i get emails from readers who are worried about becoming crazy because they talk to themselves. The first thing you need to know about self talk is that it's a very healthy habit that all normal people do.

Whether you are talking to yourself in your head or out loud using sound you are still considered a normal and healthy person.

The friend living within

Before you can understand why self talk is important you need to know a very important concept about the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is like an independent person living inside of you.

This person can object to what you are doing and so work against you. The perfect example for this situation is lack of motivation where you want to do something but lack the energy to do it.

This independent person can change your emotions and your mental state if it didn't agree with something that you are doing. In other words the subconscious mind should be treated like an independent entity in order for you to be able to interact with it perfectly.

Why self talk is extremely important

Now that you understood the previous concept it's time to know how important self talk can be:

  • 3) It tells you what's going on in your mind: When i do coaching for clients i sometimes ask them to monitor their self talk for a day or two then get back to me. Monitoring one's self talk can provide various insights about one's feelings, beliefs and emotional problems. In other words self talk is a perfect self understanding tool.   • 4) It can lead to problem resolution: Sometimes the only step needed to end emotional pain, to accept what happened or to motivate yourself to do something is doing proper self talk. How to make your self talk more effective

First of all you need to dedicate some time for self talk. This time will allow you to find out what's happening in your subconscious mind. This self talk time will also help you remember your important goals and plans.
