I Am Depressed

Have you ever tried to eat when you felt like wanting to drink?
This may sound like a strange question but in fact it’s analogous to what depressed people do when they try to deal with their depression. When your body sends you the signal of thirst then this does mean that it needs water and not food. Even if you kept eating all day your thirst will never go away unless you drink.

Depression in many cases is just a message. A message from your subconscious mind telling you that life will have no meaning unless you get your subconscious mind what it wants. A message telling you that there is a certain thing that is bothering your subconscious mind and unless you get it back it won’t let you enjoy all of the other life activities even if they were joyful.

Suppose that someone was depressed because he wasn’t satisfied with his job, do you think hanging out, traveling or doing something new will help him? Of course it wont, yes he may feel good for few hours but depression will never go away because in this case he will be eating while his real need is for water.

The water in this case is job satisfaction, this person should do his best to find another job or at least he should write a plan containing the actions that he is going to take in case he didn’t find another job.

I know that some problems may take time before they get resolved but you should never worry about this, your subconscious mind will remove the bad feelings as soon as you take an action and not when the problem is resolved. After all, your subconscious mind sent you this message called depression in order to ask you to take an action and so upon taking the action the message will no longer be needed.

Are you depressed?
And if you are, do you know why?
And if you know why, are you taking actions? Or are you just trying to forget about it by sleeping or overeating?

When you find yourself depressed know that there is something wrong that should be dealt with. If you don’t know it then take your time thinking, write your thoughts on a paper and do whatever you can in order to know the real reasons behind it. And you when you know the reason know that it will only go away if you started to take action.

Some Problems Can’t Be Solved

What if the problem can’t be solved? What if you were depressed because you lost someone close or because you lost something valuable?

You don’t have to worry in this case too because your subconscious mind wants either a solution or an acceptance. So if it was something that can be solved then solve it and if it was something else acceptance will do the job.

Am not saying that all types of depression are a direct result of unsolved problems but what I am saying is that in most cases unsolved problems are the root cause. So what? Cut the root for it’s the source of all of these branches that are clouding your life.
