answers to common interview questions

In job interviews there are some questions that are usually asked whatever the company you are applying for, by knowing a good answer to those interview questions you are reducing some of the stress you may be Experiencing at that time and thus improving your interview performance, simply because remembering something or thinking of something new may be a hard thing while being under stress. The following is a list of common interview questions and their answers:

interview questions 1: Tell us about yourself?

By far this is the most popular interview question around yet some people get anxious and shaky while answering it, the best answer to this question would be a short identification to yourself then a brief explanation of your work/study experience , it would be perfect to study the answer for this question by hard before you go to the interview so that you answer it confidently.

interview question 2: what is the benefit the we will get out of hiring you?

The point of this question is that the interviewer wants to know about
your unique abilities, in order to best answer this question try to differentiate yourself from your competitors (other job seekers) by describing your unique abilities that are related to that type of job. For example if the job is stressful you could say that you can work under extreme levels of stress (of course you must not lie this is just an example)

interview question 3: Why do you want to leave your previous company?

Many people fall in the mistake of saying because of low salary or because of routine work, just put yourself in the shoe of the interviewer, he knows that every job turns to be a routine job after some and he knows that whatever salary you can earn here still there may be a place where you can get a higher salary, so simply he will think that you may quit his company too for the same reasons. When answering this question try to find something unique about their company and say it as a reply. An example answer would be , “a company like yours is dream for anyone, because of its blab la bla” mention anything unique about the company.

interview question 4: what are your strengths and weaknesses?

You can use this question to your side by ponting out points of weakness that are in the same time points of strength, for example you could say “one of my points of weakness is that I am over ambitious and so I sometimes get disappointed” , here you just have mentioned another strength but in a different way. but take care you should not use this method much else you will be detected, for example if you were going to mention 4 strengths and four weakness, mention 2 points of strength as weaknesses and be honest in the other two.

interview question 5: tell us about a problem that you faced and how did you get out of it

The idea behind that question is that the interviewer wants to know if you can deal with problems or just get stuck with them, when you answer your main focues should be on how was the problem solved rather than what happened after it was solved, try to mention as many qualities as you can that helped you in solving this problem that are related to the type of job you are applying for.

interview question 6: where do you see yourself in five years?

This question’s purpose is to know if you are ambitious, good planner and goal oriented person, the answer may not matter much, what will matter is being confident and replying fast to that question as if its something that you know very well, don’t just appear to be thinking of an answer at the time of the interview.

interview question 7: what is the amount that you are expecting to earn?

You can avoid answering this question if you were just graduated, you can just say “I am fresh graduate and this is my first job so am not really aware of the salaries at that field” if you were lucky enough no one will push you to answer but usually the question will be repeated and the interviewer will say that he want a number, if that happen make sure to specify a range and not a single number. By the way being asked that question may mean that you have passed the interview.
