Anger is a powerful emotion that may cause a lot of damage if not channeled correctly.

Anger results in a burning desire to take actions and as a result some people take wrong actions based on their feelings of anger. Some people use their anger to hurt others, other people use their anger to destroy objects while a third group of people do nothing but instead they turn their anger inwards.

In this article i will tell you how turning your anger inwards always results in depression.

What’s meant by turning anger inwards is not responding to the external challenge and just suppressing your emotions whenever you feel angry. Don't get me wrong, i am not asking you to become mad or angry at people just to prevent anger from being turned inwards but instead i am asking you to take serious actions to ease your anger.

For example if someone became angry at his friends because they made fun of him then instead of being assertive he just went home angry then his anger would be turned inwards

What do you think will happen to that person? Do you think that emotions can be suppressed without having any bad effects? The answer is no, This person might become depressed if he didn't manage to channel these emotions correctly.

Some people describe depression as anger turned inwards. This means that instead of getting out those emotions the person suppresses until they turn into depression. Although the causes of depression are much more complex still suppressed emotions are one of the strongest factors that can make someone become depressed.

Preventing Depression that results from anger

If you want to prevent depression that results from anger then you should do your best to prevent yourself from accumulating suppressed emotions.

Learning how to be assertive is one of the best things you can do to prevent the accumulation of anger inside you. Assertiveness is a skill that allows you to stand up for your rights without being aggressive or passive.

There is no doubt that assertive people are less likely to suffer from that kind of depression. The good news is that anyone can learn how to be assertive because its a skill that can be learned.
