How many times have you started a fight just to satisfy your ego?
How many times have you become angry just because people aren’t giving you the respect you think you deserve?
How many times have you felt bad just because you were not as successful as you think you should be?
How many times have you become depressed just because you weren’t able to reach the goals that your ego was demanding?

Some people live their whole lives fighting for the sake of satisfying their inflated egos. We all do have the feeling that we are worthy even those who feel inferior, But the problem is when this sense of self worth becomes exaggerated to the extent that it leads the person to a life full of suffering and pain.

The Skyscraper

Why do you think some companies have buildings that are close to sky scrappers in their length? Do they really need all of this space? Some of companies really need it and some others need the building just to satisfy the inflated ego of the owner!!

Not all of us can build our own sky scrappers, but the sky scrapper here is just a symbol that reflects how the person's ego is demanding. We all do build these sky scrappers but in other forms. Some of us become leaders; others seek financial success while others start wars just to satisfy their ego needs.

Your Ego and depression

Do we all succeed in building our own sky scrappers? Of course not, and the result is that those who fail usually end up depressed. If your achievements were not big enough to satisfy your ego demands then you will certainly end up depressed. The severity of this depression will depend mainly on the perceived difference between your ego driven ambition and your current achievements.

How to let got of the Ego?

2knowmyslef is a not a religious website but for some life problems there aren’t any other practical solution other than believing in God. Believing that God is the one who is in control of everything and that he is the one who is responsible for whatever happens to you is the only way to letting go of your Ego. For if God is the one who controllers everything then we are actually just using the tools he gives us to achieve our goals.

I am not trying to say that we did no effort, actually some of us did their best, but after all we did it using God’s tools. For if he was to take some of these tools we would have never been who we are now. Everything that we posses now is a result of the utilization of what God gave us. God usually don’t give people things directly, after all you can’t just wake up and find money beside your bed but instead he gives you the tools like the mind, funds for college education or even the meeting with a person who inspires you.

Those tools are the things responsible for your current identity and for all of your achievements. If you have an inflated ego then don’t put yourself down or think that you are a narcissist but just ask God for the right tools because he is the only one who can provide you with them.
