How to answer interview questions properly?
And is there a perfect answer for each interview question?

People always send me mails about interview questions asking me to write about the perfect answers for these questions. The very important point you must put in mind is that answering interview questions properly is not about knowing the answers prior to the interview but its all about knowing what that specific interviewer you are dealing with likes to hear.

Based on the situation you are in the perfect answer will differ and that's why in this article i am going to tell you how to answer interview questions properly.

Answering interview questions properly

The first thing you must put in mind is that each interviewer is looking for a person who has certain skills that can fill a current gap in his company. This means that the interviewers doesn't need to find that you have tons of skills but he only wants to see that you can fill that specific gap.

If i decided to hire an editor for 2knowmyself to edit the language i wont care if he is a computer genius as much as a i will care about his ability to do a boring and a systematic task everyday. If i asked that person whether he likes routine the proper answer in such a case will be "yes" while for another job that same answer wont be the right one.

So the proper answer to an interview question depends on understanding what the interviewer wants to hear exactly and this wont happen before you study the company profile, the job offer and the skills needed exactly.

The biggest misconception about interview questions

The second biggest misconception about interview questions is believing that the interviewers in an omnipotent being and not just a human being who experience the different emotions people experience.

Some people think that answering questions to show that they are over confident is the proper action while in fact if the interviewer didn't have much confidence your answers might intimidate him!!

So again the proper answer to an interview question doesn't only depend on the situation but it also depends on the type of interviewer you are dealing with.

In the Ultimate guide to become rich program i said that proper answers to interview questions are the ones that make the interviewer feel comfortable and not the ones that can make you appear superior.

Simply because if you triggered the interviewer's jealousy or insecurity you will never get the job.

Find more information on the interviewer

If it is possible to find out some information about the interviewer before the interview then this will help you a lot. After all this interviewer is just a human being who likes certain things and hates certain other things.

Once you know exactly how that interviewer thinks you can tell him what he wants to hear. Make sure that you are being 100% honest else you might pass the interview but fail at the job itself. See Understanding human behaviour

Reading about psychology and self understanding in general can help a lot for it can help you understand other people as well. Once you know what makes that interviewer tick convincing him to hire you will be a piece of cake.

Don't be a yet another candidate

Most probably that interviewer have seen so many other candidates before you and if you seemed like a yet another candidate then your chance of getting the job will be very limited.

In order to increase your chance of getting a job you must make yourself stand out from the crowd. Any kind of differentiation you can do will help even if it was not 100% related to the job. See How to make a good first impression

A company would be more interested to hire a more skilled person even if those skills weren't really needed. Just put yourself in the shoes of that interviewer. If he saw 100 similar persons and one person who is different, whom do you think he will choose?
