How to control people

How to control people

This article doesn’t intend to teach you how to control people because obviously its something that is unethical and I am strongly against unethical behavior.

This article will tell you about common methods of control that people use against each other in order to help you prevent anyone from controlling you.

Sometimes people control each other intentionally and sometimes it happens without they even notice, however, in both cases the same principles are used whether the person is aware of them or not.

This article will inform you about some of these principles so that you can prevent people from controlling you intentionally or unintentionally.

How people control each other

People control others by letting them experience some psychological emotions that they can’t tolerate and the result is doing something that they wouldn't have done without the effect of these emotions.

The following are examples of controlling behavior:

  • Fear: When an angry parent shouts at his child the child finds nothing to do other than obeying the parent. In this case, the child only did it because of the fear he experienced and not because he was convinced
  • sympathy: If in the previous example the child replied by crying then he would be trying to control his parent too by inducing sympathy in the parent’s heart.
  • Guilt: Some people try to make others feel guilty in order to force them to do something that they don’t want to do, in my book how to get over anyone in few days I described how guilt can even be used to prevent someone from forgetting about the person he loves. when guilt is used as a method of control against someone else the person fails to dump his partner and so spends his life with him even if he doesn’t want to.
  • Narcissism & reverse psychology: If you want a narcissist to do something for you then all you have to do is use reverse psychology against him. By telling him something like “This bag is too heavy for you to carry” he will try to prove you wrong and will do his best to do this task
  • Ego involvement: As soon as someone’s Ego gets involved in a task, he will do anything just to satisfy his Ego’s needs. Some people start new businesses for the sake of satisfying their egos, others go into relationships while others start wars for the same reason.

Final words about controlling people

Those were only few examples but the one common thing between them all is that they depend on certain emotions that are induced in the person and so when he finds that he cant tolerate these emotions he does that thing that he wouldn’t have done otherwise.

In order to protect yourself from all of these methods of control watch out for the emotions people try to induce in you and don’t respond to them.
