What are lucid dreams

When you become aware of the fact that you are dreaming but still stay asleep then this is called lucid dreaming.

Lucid dreaming in short is the act of dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. Lucid dreaming can be learned and induced. Some people can even control their dreams after learning how to induce lucid dreams.

What are the benefits of having lucid dreams?

When someone visualizes himself performing well or achieving a goal he is actually giving his subconscious mind directions on how to act in real life in order to achieve that goal. In such a case the person's subconscious mind will try to act based on the visual images stored in it. Now imagine what you can do when you can have daily dreams that are aligned with your goals? imagine the motivation you will gain from seeing your goals being achieved everyday in your dreams.most probably this is going to be a great push towards reaching what you want.
  • lucid dreaming use #2, getting rid of nightmares: if you know that you are dreaming and if you have control over your dream then probably nightmares wont be a big problem because you will be able to control or even avoid them.
  • lucid dreaming use #3, gaining experience : Your subconscious mind does not differentiate between a real experience and an imagined one, that’s why your heart may beat faster while seeing a horror movie even though you know that you are safe. Now whatever you do in your dream will be stored in the subconscious mind as if it was a real experience. In lucid dreams you can experience different situations and learn from them. Your subconscious mind will think that you actually faced those situations and so this will add to your experience

Lucid dreams and nightmares

There is one important point you must know about dreams which is that they are messages. If your subconscious mind is trying to warn you of something through a nightmare then it might not be a good idea to learn how to get over the nightmare using lucid dreaming.

In such a case you will be blocking an important communication channel between you and your subconscious mind and this might result in poor self understanding.
