Lots of people send me mails telling me that they love self help and that they read a lot about it. Some of those people tell me that their problem with self help is that they feel a great improvement after reading the advice then revert back to their starting point few weeks later.

This happens specially with self confidence advice where people experience an improvement in their self esteem for a short while then return back to the starting point after forgetting about these advice.

In this article i will tell you how you can improve your self esteem permanently.

This is why you can't build self esteem

We are all born confident without false beliefs, incorrect thinking patterns or self defeating habits.

When a person loses his self confidence this means that he has managed to learn a new skill that lowered his already existing self confidence!!

For example, some people have learned to incorrectly interpret the actions that other people do. If someone didn't smile to them properly they quickly assume that they are not interesting without thinking about other possibilities.

Now what those people do is that they keep lowering their self esteem with each social encounter because of their self defeating patterns of thinking.

Every smile, whisper, rejection or any vague action will be considered a clear proof for your inattentiveness and so your self esteem will become lower with each social encounter.

If you want to improve your self esteem then get rid of the false beliefs and the self defeating habits, only then you will be able to keep the improvement you got from the advice you read.
