How To Be Psychologically Tough

Why do some people never break no matter what happens to them?
Why do you sometimes find yourself pretty vulnerable?
How can someone become really tough?

being tough in life is all about acquiring the mental state of tough people. The advantage those people have over others lies in only one place, their brains.

In this article i will tell you how to become psychologically tough.

What makes you weak

The one and only factor that makes people weak is their beliefs. The difference between a fully motivated person and someone who is desperate is the belief of the first that he can get whatever he is after.

A depressed person is a one who believes that hope is lost. An anxious person is a one who thinks that his efforts might not be enough. In the end its all about the beliefs.

This is why the first thing you need to begin with if you want to be really tough is to examine your belief system and find out the beliefs that are holding you back. Next you need to work on changing these beliefs.

Whether you learned those beliefs from someone, you made incorrect conclusions about life as a result of your past experiences or whether you don't know where you got them from your job should be getting rid of them. (see How to change negative core beliefs)

Psychological wounds Make you weak

Just like an injured arm can make it intolerable for you to get punched a psychological wound would make so many things in life worse than they seem.

Believing that you are not loved, thinking that you are a loser or that all people are dishonest are all examples of popular psychological wounds people suffer from.

A person who has a certain wound sees the world from a different twisted angle and as a result he gets hurt more often by things that don't hurt normal people.

Each psychological wound has a different way of handling and that's why the best thing you can do to make yourself tough is to educate yourself on how to overcome your specific wounds.

The more you go through the tougher you get

Each new experience you go through will make you tougher unless you get scared and decide to avoid similar events. If you messed up things in a social gathering then you will know what to do in the next one provided that you don't step back and avoid crowded places.

Each mistake you make in life is actually a new opportunity to become tough the next time you do the same thing provided that you don't run away.

Even the movies or the shows that you watch can make you tough. Your subconscious mind can't really tell the difference between a real experience and an imagined one. Watch so many shows and movies about tough guys and you will find yourself getting tougher.
