Positive thinking is a great way to improve the quality of your life and to reach your goals provided that you use it correctly. I personally wrote so many articles about positive thinking and how it can improve your life but the big mistake so many people do is that they use positive thinking in such a way that it backfires.

While positive thinking can help you a lot when you use it correctly it can also make your life miserable if you made some of the common mistakes so many people do.

Instead of becoming a tool that can help you improve your life positive thinking can turn your life into hell if you didn't follow the right practices.

Here are the most common cases where positive thinking can be really bad for you:

  • 1) Using positive thinking as an excuse to give up: So many people use positive thinking as an excuse to give up on the things they badly wanted. Phrases such as "just accept what you have" or "just enjoy the present moment" might seem like positive ones but for your subconscious mind they are only considered self deception ways that set the stage for giving up. People who use those tricks think that they are thinking positively but shortly when their psychological needs force them to crave what they gave up on they get depressed
  • 2) Lying to yourself: So many people who lack confidence because of certain self doubts repeat affirmations such as "I am confident" or "i am good". In the Solid Self confidence program i said that while those affirmations seem positive still they never get accepted by the subconscious mind simply because they don't really match the beliefs it has. The right way to use affirmations is to repeat facts that match your current beliefs so that they don't get rejected by your subconscious mind
  • 3) Using positive thinking to twist facts: "No one gets everything" , "True happiness is in finding peace" and many similar phrases are examples of using positive thinking to twist the facts and see the world in an incorrect way. When some people fail to get what they want in life they try to use another trick to feel good which is to convince themselves that what they really wanted wasn't the right thing for them (see also Self deception examples)

Here is how to find true happiness

Do you know what true happiness is?
Its getting what you really want in life. Its getting what you want so badly that you would become miserable if you didn't get it.

And if you failed to get that thing then you need to get something better not convince yourself that true happiness is in living the moment or that acceptance is the key to happiness.

The only way to become truly happy, and not the kind of temporary happiness that is based on self deception, is to get what you really want in life.
